This site is my effort to contribute something back to Linux and the Open Source Community. I do this by sharing my expriences building and configuring Linux and its many applications. I hope you find this information useful and interesting. Please let me know.

Linux

is a freely available UNIX OS which is a serious contender to the commercial offerings, both in its performance capablities and its ports to various platforms. Born from Linux Torvalds' posting of a minimal Minix port to the i386 in 1991, Linux has and continues to be developed by a voluntary workforce using the internet as their office. This is a phenominal achievement. Although informally orgainised, I have found support constantly better than that of commercial providers. Have a look at these Linux Links.

The Open Source Movement

is sporting a novel concept. Releasing software with its source code and not limiting the changing of code and or redistribution ultimately improves the quality of the product. It does however buck the trend of many commercial software providers who protect their intellectual property investments, and license revenue streams. For more information, look at Eric Raymond's web site, and www.opensource.org
This website is alive, it is work in progress, always under construction and always improving. In time I'll include a change log. I first want to do a brain dump, and then beautify and sophisticate.
